What to do in Little Haiti
Watching the day to day life of the local inhabitants, browsing some of their dime stores, or shops with exotic goods, and food stalls are some of the pleasures which can be found in Little Haiti.
A good form to get a taste of Haitian culture is through its food, an informal, simple, cheap and above all tasty way to eat.
In North East Second Avenue you can find the Church of Notre Dame d'Haiti, a little church which occupies what was once the cafeteria of a catholic girl's school. If you're lucky enough to pass when it's time for mass, you'll bear witness to a joyous celebration with Caribbean rhythms (reminiscent of Gospel services).
Nearby, on the corner of N.E. Second Avenue and N.E. 60th Street, you can also find a Caribbean market which is known for its innovative design and striking colour combinations.
